A 25-year-old man from Bahau, Negri Sembilan died in a tragic car accident after crashing into the back of a lorry on the North-South Expressway near Batu Pahat.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah reported that the accident took place at KM115 on the south-bound lane of the highway around 2.45am on Monday (Jan 8).
The victim was driving a Perodua Bezza along the Pagoh-Yong Peng stretch on the expressway, when he collided with the back of a lorry.
As a result of the impact, the victim was thrown out of his car and onto the road. He was then struck by an express bus that came from behind, resulting in his tragic death, according to a statement from OCPD Ismail.
The accident also caused the lorry to skid to the left side of the road, resulting in minor injuries to the 48-year-old driver.
The 25-year-old express bus driver and the 28 passengers aboard the bus were unharmed during the incident, reported OCPD Ismail.
In the wake of the tragedy, the deceased, N. Shashitharan, was sent to Hospital Sultan Ismail Nora for post-mortem examination, OCPD Ismail added.
The case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
