According to Labis Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Hairisyah Wahid, a 42-year-old man died from wasp stings near Felda Tenang in Segamat. The victim was participating in a motorsports activity on Sunday (Dec 24) when he was attacked by the wasps.
The emergency call regarding the wasp attack near the Jalan Semayong forest reserve was received at 2.24pm, prompting a team of seven firefighters to rush to the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead by a Labis health clinic health officer on the spot, and his body was handed over to the police. Once the area was deemed safe of wasps, the firefighters left the scene at around 6.30pm, Hairisyah added.
It is believed that the victim was stung multiple times, leading to his tragic death. The specific motor sports activity in which he was participating has not been disclosed. The authorities have not provided further details regarding the incident.
