A man in India has been arrested after biting off his wife’s finger and swallowing it during a fight, according to Malaysia Nanban. Vijaya Kumar, 45, and Pushpa, 40, from Kerala, have been married for 23 years and have two children. The couple had separated following a misunderstanding after the birth of their second child. Several days ago, Vijaya went to Pushpa’s house and an argument ensued, which turned physical. During the altercation, Vijaya bit off a part of his wife’s finger and refused to return it. Instead, he chewed on it and swallowed it. He then fled the scene when neighbors rushed to help after hearing Pushpa’s screams.
In a separate incident, a temple in Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan had to clean up after a pair of newlyweds and their families left behind the mess from their Aadi Perukku rituals, reports Makkal Osai. The festival, which takes place in the fourth month of the Tamil calendar, involves newlyweds releasing sacred flower garlands used during their weddings into rivers or other bodies of water. These garlands are eventually washed up on the beach.
