JOHOR BARU: In Sungai Tebrau, a 39-year-old local man drowned while fishing. The Tebrau Fire and Rescue Department received a call about the incident in Kangkar Tebrau at 12.42pm on Sunday (Sept 17). Shahril Sapar, the department’s operations commander, stated that 15 firemen were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call. They conducted a skin dive in search of the victim and found him about five meters from where he was last seen. An image of the scene can be viewed here:
Shahril Sapar explained that the man is believed to have drowned while fishing. The victim was discovered at 3.35pm and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat confirmed that the police have received a report on the case. Additionally, the victim has been identified by his family members.
