There was a fatal road accident in Pontian where a 58-year-old man lost his life after his car collided with a trailer lorry at KM72 Jalan Johor Bahru-Batu Pahat. The Pontian OCPD Supt Mohammad Shofee Tayib mentioned that the tragic incident happened at 2.20pm on Friday (April 5).
According to the OCPD, the victim was driving from Batu Pahat towards Pontian when he lost control of his vehicle near Masjid Jamek Pulai Sebatang and veered into the opposite lane. An oncoming lorry was unable to avoid the vehicle and ended up colliding with it.
As a result of the collision, the victim sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Moving on to another incident, Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak shared that a 75-year-old man passed away after a fall from his motorcycle at Jalan Masjid in Kampung Plentong, Johor Baru.
The unfortunate event occurred at 2pm on Wednesday (April 3) as the victim was on his way back home from Masjid Jamek Kampung Plentong. It is believed that the man lost control of his motorcycle, leading to a fall on the road and a head injury.
He was rushed to Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at 9.04pm on Friday while still undergoing medical care. Both cases are now under investigation in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
