Man killed, two homes severely damaged in early morning fire

In the early hours of Monday morning (Sept 18), a 60-year-old disabled man tragically died in a fire that engulfed two kampung houses in George Town.

According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue department, the man was burned to death at a residence located in Jalan Kampung Pisang, Ayer Itam.

The department stated, “We received a report at 3.44am of a fire in Jalan Kampung Pisang. Upon arrival, we discovered that two kampung houses were on fire. We successfully managed to control the fire by 4.28am.”

The department confirmed the death of the disabled man on Monday (Sept 18).

It was further revealed that both homes suffered 90% damage as a result of the fire.
