A 25-year-old man died in a tragic accident when his MPV crashed into a road divider and then fell into a trench at Lebuhraya Pesisir Pantai, Johor Baru.
According to Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh, the incident occurred at 5.40am on Tuesday (Jan 2).
“The driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the guard rail before falling into the trench on the left side of the road,” ACP Balveer explained in a statement. The crash resulted in the victim suffering a serious head injury and being pronounced dead at the scene.
ACP Balveer stated that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
Larkin Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Azmi Johar reported that 14 men were deployed to assist with the rescue operation at the location.
“The vehicle had fallen into a two-metre-deep trench, and the body of the driver was found about 15m from the vehicle,” Azmi said. “The victim was pronounced dead by the medical team, and a search was conducted for any other potential victims in the area.”
