In Kota Bharu, a trader entered a plea of not guilty in the Sessions Court. This was in response to the charge of providing a false statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding a man with the title Datuk. This man allegedly solicited a bribe ranging from RM1mil to RM2mil.
The accused, Abdul Hakimy Zulkifli, who is 32 years old, was cited for committing the offense during a recorded conversation under Section 30(8) of the MACC Act 2009. This happened at the Kelantan MACC office at 12.55pm on September 3rd last year. He was charged under Section 27(1)(a) of the same law.
The charges state that Abdul Hakimy fabricated a statement claiming that a 78-year-old man had solicited bribes to be given to four police personnel in order to withdraw a report. However, he knew that this statement was false, as the elderly man had never done such a thing.
Judge Dazuki Ali granted Abdul Hakimy bail of RM15,000 in one surety. The accused was also ordered not to disturb prosecution witnesses.
The court scheduled March 24th for mention, as reported by Bernama.
