Police Arrest Suspected Arsonist in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang
SHAH ALAM: In a recent development, the police have successfully apprehended a man believed to be responsible for setting multiple cars on fire in Bandar Bukit Tinggi, Klang. The suspect, a 53-year-old individual, was caught near the location of the arson incident at approximately 5.30 pm on Thursday (July 13), according to ACP Cha Hoong Fong, the district police chief of South Klang.
The suspect, who tested positive for drug use and had a record of six previous criminal and drug-related offenses, has been remanded for a week. A statement released on Saturday (July 15) confirmed these details. The unemployed man is now facing charges under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire, Section 427 for causing property damage, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The incident gained significant attention after a video capturing the man setting numerous cars ablaze in Klang went viral on Friday (July 14). Detectives determined that the same man is also suspected of vandalizing nine other vehicles in the Lebuh Batu Nilam area, bringing the total number of damaged vehicles to 15.
ACP Cha Hoong Fong has urged anyone with information related to the case to contact the South Klang police at 03-33762222 or the nearest police station. The investigation is ongoing. – Bernama
