A man, aged 31, is expected to face charges in court after being found with a knife at Perak Stadium. Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan stated that the man was discovered with the weapon during a search near Gate B on Thursday (Oct 19). He is anticipated to be charged on Monday (Oct 23). At 8:45 pm on that day, the man was arrested and has since been remanded for two days while an investigation is carried out under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958, specifically Section 6(1). The DPP has given instructions for the man to be charged.

ACP Yahaya emphasized that people should refrain from bringing dangerous weapons or explosives, such as fireworks, into the stadium during football matches as it is a punishable offense. Offenders can face up to 10 years in jail and a whipping sentence, he added.

In a separate incident during the Malaysia Cup semi-final match between Perak FC and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), another man aged 25 was arrested for obstructing police duties. The man also verbally abused a police officer on duty. He was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. Furthermore, he tested positive for ganja. The man pleaded guilty in a Magistrate’s Court and was fined RM1,500.
