A man in Muar expressed his dissatisfaction with the service of a shopkeeper, leading to a commotion in which they threw items at each other.
A video of the incident, lasting one minute and 40 seconds and captured by the handphone shop’s closed circuit television, has gained traction on social media.
The man can be seen in the video complaining about a faulty screen protector and then attempting to rectify the issue himself.
Throughout the altercation, the customer is heard using vulgar language toward the shopkeeper, who repeatedly informs him that he conducted the task incorrectly.
The situation escalated when the man became angry and grabbed an item from the counter to throw at the woman, who responded in kind.
Additionally, a child can be heard crying in the background.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz stated that both the 45-year-old customer and 24-year-old shop assistant filed separate police reports regarding the incident in Pagoh at approximately 1:10pm on Tuesday (Dec 12).
“The unsavoury exchange is believed to be caused by the customer’s dissatisfaction towards the service given to him.
“It (The incident) escalated when the customer turned aggressive towards the shop assistant,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 13).
He remarked that both parties have been summoned to aid the investigation for causing harm without a weapon under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both upon conviction.
The incident is also framed under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for uttering vulgarities, he added.
