JOHOR BARU: Authorities in Johor Baru are on a manhunt for a male suspect in connection with a shocking incident where a policeman was stabbed while on patrol along Jalan Ungku Puan. The incident took place at 2.30am on Monday (July 10) during a surveillance operation conducted under Ops Tapis Khas. OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat of Johor Baru South revealed that the patrol team, consisting of an officer and five policemen, noticed three individuals acting suspiciously in a parking lot near Jalan Ungku Puan. They suspected the trio to be involved in drug-related activities.
The officers decided to approach the suspects for inspection. However, a scuffle broke out between them, leading to one of the suspects stabbing a police constable in the back. The 22-year-old constable sustained a deep wound on his left rib. As the other team members inspected the remaining two men, the suspect managed to escape. The injured constable is currently receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital and is in a stable condition. ACP Raub stated that the case will be investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which pertains to voluntarily causing grievous hurt. The police are now searching for a suspect last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, black jeans, slippers, a black snowcap, and a black face mask.
