KUALA LUMPUR: The organisers of Save Malaysia are calling for a police investigation into the discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s graft case.
Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said they have examined the chronology of the case from the time he was charged up until the DNAA, and there are many issues that need clarification and raise doubt.
“This is why we have filed a police report,” he told reporters when he was outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters on Saturday (Sept 16).
He stated that the police needed to investigate the case from the beginning and look into Ahmad Zahid and all those involved, including the deputy public prosecutor who was forfeited.
“We also believe that the reduction in subsidies has negatively affected the people, and we want to fight for this cause,” he said.
Meanwhile, lawyer and Pejuang information chief Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali expressed puzzlement over how Ahmad Zahid received the DNAA.
“There are numerous questions surrounding the case. Zahid had been called upon to present his defense.
“Then suddenly, the same prosecuting team decided not to proceed further and recommended a DNAA,” he said, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation as it raises too many questions.
