In KLANG, a man and his wife were apprehended during a police raid at their residence, where a substantial amount of narcotics was discovered. South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong stated that the couple, who were in the process of packaging the drugs, were taken into custody around 2.20am on February 29.
The raid yielded approximately 1kg of marijuana, 197g of methamphetamine, 793g of heroin, a digital scale, and a sum of cash. The estimated value of the drugs seized is around RM60,000, and it is believed that these substances were intended for distribution within the Klang area.
According to ACP Cha, the couple, both in their 30s, were using their residence as a drug packaging facility, servicing clients in Klang by fulfilling orders received. This illegal operation had been ongoing for several months, with the husband having a prior criminal record. It is also suspected that they were sourcing their drug supply locally.
In a separate incident, a man was taken into custody at a hotel in Klang on February 26, along with 100 packages containing 4.5kg of ecstasy powder. ACP Cha revealed that the seized drugs, valued at RM229,100, were likely intended for distribution at entertainment establishments in Klang, where each packet of ecstasy powder is typically sold for RM300 to RM400.
The suspect, a 28-year-old man believed to be the trafficker, was apprehended. Authorities suspect that the ecstasy powder originated from Ulu Tiram, Johor, and are pursuing leads to identify other members of the syndicate involved in the drug distribution network.
ACP Cha emphasized that the police will maintain ongoing operations to combat drug abuse and trafficking within the district. He expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and encouraged individuals to report any criminal activities, particularly those related to drugs.
