Police in Pasir Gudang have initiated an investigation into a restaurant owner who obstructed the Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) and traffic police from carrying out their duties at a premises in Taman Rinting, Masai.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak stated that the incident took place on Thursday, March 21, at 10.25pm during an operation by the enforcement team known as Ops Bersepadu.

According to Supt Mohd Sohaimi, the operation was conducted in accordance with Section 50 of the Licencing of Trade, Commerce, and Industry Bylaws (Pasir Gudang Municipal Council) 2017. The authorities were authorized to confiscate items from the premises, which included chairs and tables from the restaurant.

He also mentioned that the owner of the premises had placed chairs and tables on the footpath in front of the restaurant, which is a violation under Section 46(1)(d) of the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974.

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or services.

Supt Mohd Sohaimi emphasized the importance of not spreading speculation that could disrupt the investigation and lead to miscommunication in society.

Meanwhile, Pasir Gudang mayor Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman stated that he will hold a press conference soon to address the issue along with the premise owner. He emphasized the need to hear both sides of the story and to be fair in handling the situation.

Prior to this, a TikTok user named Ailiff posted seven videos showing the confrontation between the premise owner and the MBPG enforcement team. Some of the videos had already garnered over four million views at the time of reporting.
