Maybank has announced that the Maybank2u Internet banking platform will no longer support older versions of internet browsers. Users will now need to update their browsers to a minimum version in order to access the services.
In an announcement posted on the Maybank2u website on August 18, the bank specified the minimum browser versions required for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Safari as follows:
- Google Chrome version 52 and above
- Microsoft Edge version 80 and above
- Mozilla Firefox version 52 and above
- Opera version 39 and above
- Safari version 11.1 and above
It is important to note that users would have to be missing multiple years’ worth of updates for the listed browsers to no longer be supported by Maybank2u. Google Chrome version 52 was released in 2016, while the latest release is Google Chrome version 116.
Maybank has implemented these updated browser requirements to provide users with a faster and more secure online banking experience. Newer browser versions come with security patches that enhance protection against cyberattacks by addressing discovered vulnerabilities.
In the announcement, Maybank also suggested that users who are unable to update their browsers should consider using the MAE app for their internet banking needs.
