GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has ordered three food premises to close due to unhygienic conditions in the kitchen area.
The outlets were told to close for 14 days effective Sept 26 for having rat droppings and did not adhere to scheduled pest control operations.
“The joint enforcement operations were carried out by the council with the Penang Immigration Department on Friday (Sept 27),” said MBPP in a Facebook statement on Friday.
“The primary focus of the operation which began at 8pm was on cleanliness and on the foreign workers working in these outlets.”
MBPP said the Immigration Department also detained six foreign nationals working in the food premises.
“They were detained for not having valid travel documents and violation of the Immigration Act 1959/63 by staying beyond the permitted period,” it added.
