The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) plans to offer a RM10 flat rate for selected parking and traffic compounds for three months starting in October. The offer is being made in conjunction with MBSJ’s third anniversary of attaining city status on October 20. The RM10 flat rate will be available from October 1 to December 31 and can be paid through existing apps and online platforms such as the Smart Selangor app.

This special rate applies to selected offences under the council’s Road Transport (Parking Allocation) Order 2007, with just six exceptions. These exceptions include offences that involve towing of vehicles, use of parking spots for the disabled, abandoned vehicles, and obstruction by heavy vehicles. The Mayor of Subang Jaya, Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim, stated that this offer will be given on a case by case basis, and it is not guaranteed to be offered every year. The aim is to encourage a society that follows the law instead of only paying compounds when there is a discount.

Regarding the removal of election campaign materials after the Selangor state election on August 12, Mohd Fauzi mentioned that most parties’ materials have been taken down. Approximately 90% of election materials within MBSJ’s jurisdiction have been removed, and the political parties have been contacted to remove the remaining ones. If the remaining materials are not removed soon, the candidates’ deposit to the council will be forfeited. According to the Election Commission, all political parties, candidates, and their teams have a two-week period after polling day to remove their party flags, banners, and buntings. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of their deposits, which amount to RM3,000 for state constituency candidates.

In conjunction with National Month, Mohd Fauzi urged residents and communities to display the Jalur Gemilang (National Flag) around their homes and community spaces. MBSJ’s Licensing Department will issue circulars to business premises, requesting them to fly the flag. It is important that the flags are in good condition, not torn, and flown correctly. This initiative is part of the Kempen Kibar Jalur Gemilang (Fly the National Flag Campaign).
