The 48th annual general meeting of Wanita MCA, held on Saturday (Oct 21), saw unanimous approval of seven resolutions. These resolutions covered various aspects, including party affairs, the economy, religion, agriculture, food security, laws, and institutional reforms. A total of 940 delegates participated in the meeting and debated the resolutions, with 12 delegates representing 10 states. One of the resolutions called for the government to provide incentives to alleviate the burden on employers whose employees take 98 days of maternity leave.
The delegates also stressed the importance of MCA being proactive in recruiting younger members and increasing the participation of women, particularly those from professional backgrounds, in politics.
Simultaneously, the 59th annual general meeting of MCA Youth was also held on the same day. This meeting witnessed the passing of nine resolutions, which encompassed areas such as party and Youth affairs, the economy, government affairs, and education. The resolutions were debated by 11 delegates representing nine states, and were subsequently approved by 390 delegates.
One of the resolutions presented by MCA Youth called for continued efforts from the government to address economic challenges and combat rising living costs. Additionally, they proposed the reinstatement of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) at a rate of 4%. The MCA Youth also advocated for the improvement of secondary school syllabi by incorporating election topics, thereby enhancing students’ knowledge about Undi18 and the democratic process in general. – Bernama
