KULAI: MCA is aiming to gain 4,000 new young members in Johor as part of its efforts to rejuvenate the party, said Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong. The party president emphasized the importance of focusing on attracting new members, particularly youths and women, following the implementation of Undi18.
“It is crucial for us to strengthen the party. As the first phase of our rejuvenation process, I have set the target for Johor MCA to gain the membership of 4,000 youths as soon as possible,” Dr Wee stated during a press conference after officiating the Johor MCA Convention at a restaurant on Sunday (Aug 6).
Dr Wee also urged existing party members to increase their efforts in recruiting new members. He highlighted the significance of this effort due to the automatic voter registration of individuals who turn 18 years old. Previously, campaigns were required to encourage and assist them in registering as voters.
“That is why it is very important for us to carry out the rejuvenation process whether we like it or not,” he added.
