KUALA LUMPUR: MCA is committed to improving the well-being of the Chinese community as well as ensuring educational opportunities and economic growth in Sabah, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
During his recent visit to Kota Kinabalu, the MCA president said he had the chance to speak to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor about several current issues involving the people’s welfare.
“We discussed several current people-centric issues, including the welfare for the Chinese community, strengthening the Sabah branch of TAR UMT to benefit more students from all races, particularly Sabahans, and extended an official invitation to the Chief Minister to officially launch the campus.
“We also discussed MCA’s preparedness to play a role in catalysing economic growth with more business and job opportunities for Sabahans,” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Aug 19).
Also present with the Ayer Hitam MP during the 40-minute meeting with Hajiji were Sabah MCA chairman Lu Yen Tung, his deputy Phang Sin Fong, as well as Sabah Wanita MCA chief and deputy MCA secretary-general Datuk Dr Pamela Yong.
“On behalf of MCA, I expressed our full support to Hajiji as the Chief Minister for the sake of political stability in Sabah. We thank YAB (Hajiji) and the Chief Minister’s Office for the warm hospitality shown to our delegation,” Dr Wee added.
