KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has successfully defended his post as MCA president.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said Dr Wee won in a landslide victory, winning most of the votes in the race against his opponent Datuk Tan Chong Seng.

Deputy president Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon received no challengers and defended his post.

There is a mix of old and new faces for the four vice-president posts won by incumbents Datuk Lim Ban Hong and Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, while the newcomers are Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng and Datuk Lawrence Low.

Earlier on Sunday (Sept 24), Chong said voter turnout among delegates was 56%.

Nominations for the 2023 MCA elections occurred on Sept 11, with central party polls involving some 29,000 MCA delegates.

Elections for the Wanita and Youth wings concluded on Saturday (Sept 23).

A total of 160 polling stations were set up nationwide for the central committee election.

MCA will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) on Oct 21 and 22.

All winners will begin their terms as office-bearers after the AGM.
