PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) did not receive any order to block Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s TikTok account.
“No instructions were received by the MCMC regarding this matter. Social media platforms have guidelines that determine automatic user actions based on breaches or public complaints.
“These guidelines set expectations, promote inclusivity, and reduce harmful content that may disrupt public harmony,” the MCMC stated.
Earlier, PAS official media Harakah tweeted a video of Sanusi claiming that his TikTok account had been banned.
In the video, he likened the government’s actions to media restrictions in North Korea.
During a press conference, Sanusi confirmed the ban and criticized the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional government for their “draconian” move.
He accused the government of influencing TikTok to ban his account and prevent him from connecting with the public through social media.
