The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) expressed disappointment over TV Pertiwi’s statement regarding the blocking of their news portal. The MCMC clarified that investigations were still ongoing and any disclosure about the matter could affect the process.

In a meeting held on August 22, the MCMC informed TV Pertiwi about the ongoing investigation process. They emphasized their commitment to uphold their responsibilities under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, particularly in preventing false or malicious content.

Despite this, TV Pertiwi CEO Mohd Firdaus Salleh announced on August 25 that the portal would not remove the six disputed pieces of content. This decision was made due to the lack of a detailed explanation regarding the offenses and legal violations committed by TV Pertiwi.

MCMC had reportedly blocked the news portal on August 18, just two days after the blocking of its TikTok account. TV Pertiwis is an online news platform operated by Kerengga Merah Sdn Bhd (KMSB), established in July 2018.
