JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will work with the police to investigate the alleged leaked papers on Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin’s murder case on Telegram, says Fahmi Fadzil.
The Communications Minister said that actions could be taken against those involved in leaking the documents as this is a court case.
“So far, I have yet to receive information on the matter, but I will have MCMC reach out to the police and look into actions that could be taken against those involved.
“We do not know if what was spread was the investigation papers or fake documents.
“If it is, then there are parties that need to come out with an explanation, and if not, actions should be taken against those spreading lies and misinformation,” he said in a press conference during the ‘Sembang Santai’ program here on Friday (June 14).
He said this in response to a question on whether the MCMC would take any actions following the leaked documents on local watchdog Edisi Siasat’s Telegram.
Fazli, who is also the government’s spokesperson, urges the public to leave the matter to the authorities and not to make any speculations.
“This case has been brought to court. Let them (the court) carry out their responsibility and jobs. At the same time, we should not make any speculations,” he said.
Edisi Siasat reportedly shared investigation papers of the case on their Telegram on Thursday (June 13), which has since made rounds on social media.
