KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) welcomed around 50 Chinese students to the city as part of their study tour to Malaysia and Singapore. The visit, which coincided with Malaysia’s month-long Merdeka celebrations, was organized by MCPF’s crime prevention club chairman, Datuk Seri Johny Ch’ng Ewe Gee.
The Chinese students, representing various primary and secondary schools from cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, were invited to interact with 30 students from SMJK Chung Hwa Klang as a gesture of friendship between Malaysia and China. Additionally, 40 students from Saito University College joined the group to share their tertiary level experiences.
Before embarking on a guided tour to the Royal Malaysia Police Museum in Tasik Perdana, the participants received a brief history lesson on the country and its police force. To make the visit more memorable, the Chinese students were treated to Musang King durians and took a group photo with their Malaysian peers who waved the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag) together.
Aside from hosting crime prevention events, MCPF actively engages in nation-building activities aimed at instilling discipline, patriotism, and leadership qualities among students. Datuk Seri Johny Ch’ng Ewe Gee emphasized the importance of the younger generation developing a sense of belonging to the country and becoming future leaders within civil society.
During the interactions, the Chinese students were also introduced to Malaysia’s education system, which requires every student to participate in a sport, a club, and a uniformed body. Many Malaysian students are active members of crime prevention clubs in their schools, allowing MCPF to educate and disseminate information on crime prevention, emphasizing the importance of avoiding criminal activities and their detrimental consequences.
MCPF exco members Datuk Kamarudin Md Ali, Datuk Seri Chong Chin Fung, and Datuk Kenneth Ch’ng were also present during the programme.
