POS Malaysia Bhd has collected more than RM80,000 to support the Health Ministry’s (MOH) Trust Fund for cancer patients. The funds were generated from 5% of the revenue obtained from the “Ubat Melalui Pos” (UMP) service during the period from January to June 2023. This initiative is part of Pos Malaysia’s corporate social responsibility program aimed at providing assistance to disadvantaged individuals affected by cancer.

Datuk Seri Norazman Ayob, the Health Ministry’s deputy secretary-general (finance), stated that Pos Malaysia has donated a total of RM708,783.56 from 2012 to June 2023. Of this amount, RM617,393.20 has been utilized for supporting the treatment of cancer patients across Malaysia, particularly at the National Cancer Institute and Kuala Lumpur Hospital, which are the main health facilities for cancer treatment under the Health Ministry.

The donated funds have been used to procure various medical equipment for underprivileged cancer patients, including chemo ports, oxygen concentrators, pleural and peritoneal indwelling catheters, and infusion pumps.

“From January to June 2023, a total of 360,922 parcels were delivered through the UMP service. The revenue generated from this service, totaling RM84,276.70, will be channeled to the fund,” added Datuk Seri Norazman Ayob.

Launched in 2011, the UMP service provides postal delivery of prescribed medication to patients within the PosLaju coverage area for a nominal fee. This service aims to reduce waiting times at MOH healthcare facilities and ensure a continuous supply of monthly prescriptions to improve patient compliance with medication therapy.

Zaini Yahman, the operations director of Pos Malaysia, expressed pride in the company’s role in supporting the Health Ministry’s efforts to enhance healthcare accessibility for all Malaysians through the UMP service. Utilizing their extensive network of over 11 million addresses nationwide, Pos Malaysia is grateful for the trust placed in them to make a significant impact on the lives of numerous patients. The company is committed to driving innovation and strives to create a better future.

The UMP service is available at 394 MOH healthcare facilities throughout the country. Interested individuals can download the MyUBAT mobile app from Google Play, App Store, or AppGallery.
