MELAKA: Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh sent early Deepavali greetings to Hindu civil servants and contract staff. However, he will not be able to attend their open houses as he will be leaving for Italy on an official trip a few days before the festive season. The purpose of his trip to Milan is to meet with businessmen regarding potential investments in the state. Ab Rauf stated that work comes first and he needs to double his efforts to attract investments to the state. He expressed his wishes for Deepavali to bring happiness and prosperity to all.
Melaka Youth, Sports, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) Committee chairman VP Shanmugam will also be spending his Deepavali in Italy. Ab Rauf and Shanmugam’s absence during the festive season highlights the importance of their mission to secure investments for the state.
In another event, Ab Rauf presented Deepavali financial aid to 1,000 recipients at the Bistari mini stadium in Ayer Keroh. The state government has allocated RM200,000 to bring Deepavali cheer to the deserving group. He emphasized that celebrating Deepavali in Melaka has become a tradition where various races come together to uplift the festive spirit. Ab Rauf expressed his gratitude for the ability to live together and celebrate each other’s festivities in the country.
During the event, Ab Rauf entertained Melaka exco members and assemblyman by reciting a special Deepavali poem in Bahasa Melayu. The gesture added a touch of festivity to the gathering.
Overall, despite not being able to attend the open houses personally, Ab Rauf sent his well wishes for Deepavali and expressed his commitment to attracting investments for the state. He also highlighted the importance of celebrating diversity and harmony in the country.
