MELAKA: Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh witnessed a fatal accident along the KM207 of the North-South Expressway near Alor Gajah while on his way to work. He stopped to help the victims but was saddened to learn that a young factory technician had died. The accident involved three cars and two motorcycles.
Upon being contacted later, Ab Rauf expressed his sadness over the news that a 29-year-old motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries. Another motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at the Melaka Hospital. At the scene, the Melaka Chief Minister also received a briefing from the police officers.
The deceased has been identified as M. Kumaresan, from Taman Seri Muda, Shah Alam. He is believed to have been run over by a heavy vehicle. The accident took place at 6.15am on Friday (Sept 1) when Kumaresan was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Baru. The 27-year-old motorcyclist sustained spinal injuries, while the drivers of the three cars escaped unharmed.
The accident is currently under investigation by the authorities, who are applying Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 in their inquiries.
