KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has predicted significant weather patterns due to easterly winds until Jan 17.
MetMalaysia has stated that these conditions could result in increased humidity, leading to continuous rainfall in Sarawak and eastern Sabah, as well as strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea during this period.
“Thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds are likely to occur in the afternoon through the night in Sabah and Sarawak,” MetMalaysia said in a statement issued on Sunday (Jan 14) afternoon.
In addition, MetMalaysia has issued warnings about strong winds and rough seas in effect from Sunday until the following Wednesday for Condore and Reef North, which fall under level two category.
A level one warning has also been issued for Tioman Island in Pahang, Layang-Layang and Sulu Islands in Sabah, Labuan, Palawan (in the Philippines), Samui (in Thailand), and Bunguran (in Indonesia) for the same period.
