An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale has struck Mindanao in the Philippines. The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that the earthquake occurred at 6.36pm on Sunday (Dec 3) with a depth of 81km. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 76km north of Bislig in the Philippines.

MetMalaysia has assessed the situation and has confirmed that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia. This assurance brings some relief in the wake of the earthquake, which comes on the heels of a 7.5-magnitude earthquake that hit Mindanao on Saturday (Dec 2) at 10.37pm, followed by several aftershocks. – Bernama
