SUNGAI PETANI: The Mini Carnivals for Rural Entrepreneurs (KUD) initiative is proving to be an efficient and effective platform for rural entrepreneurs to showcase their products and attract new customers. These carnivals have become an invaluable tool in promoting their businesses,” said Nurul Aida Ashari, the manager of Bendang Man kelulut (stingless bee) honey company in Sik.
Nurul Aida further emphasized the benefits of these mini carnivals, stating, “Through these events, rural entrepreneurs not only have the opportunity to introduce their products but also to network with fellow entrepreneurs, exchange ideas, and gain valuable insights.”
Expressing her hope for regular organization of these carnivals, Nurul Aida said, “Wider exposure for our products is crucial. Our kelulut honey company has benefited tremendously from the support and assistance of Keda (Kedah Regional Development Authority). We consistently participate in these carnivals organized by Keda.”
Sabri Musa, a crab farm operator in Langkawi, expressed his excitement at being selected by Keda to participate in the carnival. This was the first time he had the opportunity to promote his ecotourism products. “I am truly grateful to Keda for this chance. It enables me to connect with other entrepreneurs and explore new customer segments,” Sabri said. He also highlighted the Nipah crab as a standout product aiming to attract tourists.
Regarding the benefits of promoting his ecotourism products at the mini KUD carnival, Sabri added, “This is a significant boost for our business activities.”
Meanwhile, Faridah Awang Kechik, a visitor from Pendang, expressed her delight at attending the carnival. As a small-scale health and beauty service (Spa) business owner, she found the event inspiring and beneficial for her own business. “Meeting other entrepreneurs here has provided valuable insights into improving my business methods and ultimately enhancing my quality of life,” Faridah said.
Saiful Zaharin Zakaria, a visitor from Kuala Nerang, also found the carnival fascinating. “Rural entrepreneurs now have a dedicated platform in Sungai Petani to display and market their products. These carnivals offer a new channel for them to reach a broader audience,” he noted.
