PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed ministers to spend more time on the ground evaluating issues related to prices and the availability of essential goods ahead of Hari Raya festivities.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil disclosed that the Prime Minister emphasized this during the recent Cabinet meeting following feedback received from various events attended by him.

“This focus has been highlighted before Hari Raya, so all ministers will adhere to the message and directive from the Prime Minister,” he stated at a press conference, as cited by Bernama.

Fahmi, who also serves as the spokesperson for the unity government, mentioned that the Cabinet also deliberated on the significance of the upcoming KL20 Summit scheduled for April 22-23, particularly for startup companies in the technology sector.

“More promotional materials and space will be allocated for the KL20 program in the near future. The Cabinet has been informed of several crucial announcements, especially for the startup community.

“Subsequently, following Hari Raya, there will be a string of announcements or promotions spearheaded by the Ministry of Economy,” he added.

In reference to the incident involving KK Super Mart, Fahmi noted that the Cabinet acknowledged the audience granted to its founder and executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Chai Kee Kan by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, during which forgiveness was sought.

“The Cabinet also took note of His Majesty’s Facebook post and expressed gratitude for granting an audience to the founder, along with the call by His Majesty for strict and prompt enforcement actions against those instigating the public,” Fahmi emphasized.
