TANGKAK: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has seized over 70 cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) following a raid at a glove factory in the city.

The ministry’s Johor director, Lilis Saslinda Pornomo, said the rubber glove factory was inspected on Sunday (June 23) based on intelligence gathered by the ministry.

“The Muar branch of the ministry found dozens of LPG cylinders being stored and used for the factory’s operation.

“However, the operator failed to produce a permit for storing the controlled goods when requested by the officers,” she said in a statement here on Tuesday (June 25).

She added that the ministry seized 73 LPG cylinders worth about RM3,181 and several business documents from the factory.

“A local man in his 40s, who is the company’s director, was also called forward to assist in investigations,” she said.

She said the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
