KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry will re-evaluate the Physical Activity, Sports and Co-Curriculum Assessment (PAJSK) data of 2023 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students who saw their scores excluded from university applications.

In a statement on Sunday (July 7), it said the data would be handed over to the University Central Unit (UPU) to match and offer further studies subject to candidates according to their qualifications and programme vacancies.

“The ministry takes the issue (of excluded PAJSK scores) seriously.

“Immediate action has been taken to reassess the PAJSK data of affected candidates,” it read.

The ministry said it was conducting a detailed investigation and implementing intervention measures to see that it does not recur.

The merit score of SPM graduates who apply to continue their studies through the UPU system includes 10% of the co-curriculum score, in addition to their exam results.

It was reported that some SPM holders’ PAJSK scores were not taken into account in their UPU applications, causing them to fail to continue their studies at higher education institutions or receive offers that were not their first choice. – Bernama
