The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has arrested two individuals for allegedly attempting to distribute drugs in Tanjung Piai, Johor.
First Admiral Maritime Nurul Hizam Zakaria, the Johor Maritime director, stated that the 30-year-old and 32-year-old suspects were apprehended with 3kg of compressed crystal chunks believed to be syabu, valued at RM100,000.
The arrests occurred at 2am on Sunday (Aug 27) at Sungai Belukang, Tanjung Piai, and three packages weighing 1kg each, suspected to contain drugs, were seized in the operation.
According to Zakaria, the duo admitted to driving from Kuala Lumpur to Tanjung Piai with the intention of distributing the drugs. During the inspection of their vehicle, RM10,000 in cash was discovered.
The case is currently under investigation for drug trafficking, in accordance with Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
