The Palestinian Humanitarian Fund received a total of RM9.2mil during the Palestine Solidarity Week, which took place from Oct 29 to Nov 3. Thousands of educational institutions under the Education Ministry (MOE) participated in the event, resulting in the successful collection of funds.
According to a statement released on Sunday (Nov 5), the Palestine Solidarity Week aimed to educate students and MOE staff about important humanitarian values, including human rights, security, and compassion.
During the Global Peace Solidarity Gathering, which marked the end of Palestine Solidarity Week at Sultan Alam Shah School in Putrajaya, the Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, received a mock cheque for the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund. The cheque was handed over by the ministry’s secretary-general, Datuk Nik Nasarudin Mohd Zawawi.
The event, organized by MOE, involved the participation of 800 students from educational institutions and over 200 MOE officers. Its purpose was to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and promote peace values on a global scale.
Poetry recitation, drama and singing performances, as well as humanitarian speeches, were some of the main highlights of the event.
