KUALA LUMPUR: The police on Thursday (Sept 21) recorded the statement of Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim, the former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. This was in relation to his remarks made on his social media post on August 30 concerning Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA).
Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zin, the director of Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, stated that the police took some time to call Mohd Zaid to record his statement because they needed confirmation. The confirmation was required to ensure that the owner of the account in question is indeed Mohd Zaid himself.
Mohd Shuhaily explained, “We need to confirm that the owner’s account belongs to him. That’s why it takes some time for us to call him.” He conveyed this information during a press conference at Bukit Aman on Thursday.
The investigation against Mohd Zaid is being conducted under Section 223 of the Sedition Act, according to Mohd Shuhaily.
