PUTRAJAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah met with the widows and relatives of the six police personnel who were killed during Ops Daulat in March 2013 in Kampung Simunul, Sabah.
The meeting was held at Dataran Pahlawan Negara after an Ops Daulat Kampung Simunul reenactment was performed in conjunction with Warriors Day yesterday.The heroes killed in Ops Daulat on March 2, 2013, were Asst Comm Ibrahim Lebar, Sjn-Mej Baharin Hamit, Sjn-Mej Abd Azis Sarikon, Kol Mohd Azrul Tukiran, Sjn Salam Togiran and Deputy Supt Michael Padel.
They were from the Special Branch, General Operations Force and Semporna district police headquarters.
After witnessing the reenactment, Their Majesties, who were moved to tears, got down from the main stage to meet the widows and relatives of the fallen heroes.
Making the atmosphere more sombre was the song Kali Terakhir Ku Lihat Wajahmu (The Last Time I Saw Your Face) by singer Uji Rashid being played in the background.
Their Majesties also presented the families with contributions.
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The reenactment was produced by Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali and performed by 150 police personnel from the Vat 69 Commando Unit, Air Operations Unit and the General Operations Unit.
On Feb 12, 2013, more than 200 gunmen aligned to the self-proclaimed Royal Sulu Force invaded Kampung Tanduo in stages from Simunul Island, Sibutu Island and Sipakkut Island in southern Philippines.
The attack was repulsed by Malaysian security forces and 68 Sulu militants were killed. — Bernama
