The number of flood victims in Perak has increased to 386 individuals from 111 families as of 8am on Thursday (Nov 2), compared to 373 victims from 107 families on Wednesday (Nov 1) night, according to a statement by the Perak State Disaster Management Committee secretariat.

All the victims are currently being housed in four temporary relief centres (PPS) located in the Kerian and Hilir Perak districts.

In the Kerian district, 100 individuals from 24 families have been placed in the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Changkat Lobak PPS, while 57 individuals from 19 families are being sheltered in the PPS at SK Alor Pongsu.

Meanwhile, in Hilir Perak, the PPS at Padang Tembak multi-purpose hall is accommodating 185 residents from 55 families, while 44 individuals from 12 families have been relocated to the Teluk Intan Municipal Council PPS (MPTI).

The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) reported that while the water level of Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong has eased, it is still at a dangerous level with a height of 3.97 metres, compared to the normal level of two metres.

In addition, the Perak Public Works Department (JKR) has announced that Jalan Kubu Gajah Ijok-Sumpitan in Selama remains closed to all vehicles due to landslides. Alternative route is available through Jalan Pintasan Kampung Sumpitan-Kampung Masjid.

Jalan Proton City in the Mualim district is also blocked in both directions and closed to traffic due to landslides. Similarly, in Kerian, Jalan Selama route is only accessible to heavy vehicles, and the public is advised to use the alternative road on Jalan Alor Pongsu-Bukit Merah Bypass. – Bernama
