The number of flood victims in Sabah and Perak has increased due to continuous rainfall since 4 pm.

By 8 pm, the number of flood victims in Beaufort, Sabah, has risen from 102 to 228.

The Sabah State Disaster Management Committee has relocated all the victims to the Dewan Selagon temporary relief centre, which was opened on Friday (Sept 22).

“All of the evacuees are from five villages in Beaufort. We are closely monitoring the flood hotspots in the district,” the committee stated.

Meanwhile, the Perak State Disaster Management Committee reports a spike in the number of flash flood victims in the state since 6 pm. The SK Changkat Lobak temporary relief centre in Kerain remains open.

There are now 35 victims at the centre, an increase from 33 from Kampung Matang Tengah.

Three temporary relief centres, located at SK Sungai Jernih in Selama, Balai Raya Kampung Klah in Sungkai, and Kampung Simpang Halt Community Hall in Taiping, have already been closed.

“All of the victims have been allowed to return home,” the committee added.

Simultaneously, the Perak Works Department announced that only one lane of FT077 Jalan Pengkalan Hulu, connecting to the Thai border in Hulu Perak, is open for all vehicles due to a landslide.
