BENTONG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to prioritize the well-being of Kedahans affected by the current floods.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Umno president, expressed his hope that the over 400 families impacted by the floods would receive adequate assistance from Muhammad Sanusi. Ahmad Zahid pointed out that Muhammad Sanusi had been spending most of his time in Pelangai, Pahang, instead of being in his home state of Kedah.

“I know someone has been here (in Pelangai) for a while now although his state is facing floods,” said Ahmad Zahid during his speech at the MyFuture Jobs Career Carnival in Felda Chemomoi. The speech was also live-streamed on his Facebook page.

Ahmad Zahid further emphasized the importance of Muhammad Sanusi returning to Kedah and personally assisting those affected by the floods. He expressed his confidence in the Kedah MB’s ability to provide the best service to the flood victims.

During a later press conference, Ahmad Zahid once again expressed his hope that Muhammad Sanusi would assist all flood victims. He urged him not to neglect his own people and to prioritize their well-being. Ahmad Zahid also expressed his wish that any issues raised by Muhammad Sanusi in Pelangai would not negatively affect the local community.

According to Kedah Civil Defence Force disaster management secretariat chief Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain, as of 8am on Saturday (Sept 30), there were 1,383 flood victims in Kedah. These victims belonged to 420 families and were being housed in 12 relief centers across four affected districts: Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, and Baling.
