IPOH: Perak has seen a rise in Rahmah Sales Programmes in 2024, with 694 events held state-wide as of Oct 28 compared to 508 in 2023, an increase of 36%.

“The total number of visitors this year is 1.065 million compared to 800,754 in 2023,” said Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry chief Datuk Kamalludin Ismail.

“The sale value of goods sold is RM44.23mil compared to RM19.95mil last year,” he said at the Deepavali 2024 Seasonal Maximum Price Scheme walkabout session on Monday (Oct 28).

Kamalludin said that the scheme will be in effect for seven days from Oct 28 to Nov 3, involving eight types of goods.

“The items are imported lamb with bones, tomatoes, red chilies, whole coconuts (wholesale only), grated coconut (retail only), small red onions (India), large imported red onions and Australian dhal,” he said, adding the price controls were to stabilise prices and ensure adequate supply for the festival.

He said strict action would be taken against traders who fail to comply with the rules.

“Action will be taken under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act,” he said.

He added that 35 Rahmah sales would be held in Ipoh from Oct 26 to 30 in conjunction with Deepavali.COM
