After the launch of the Ayuh Daftar Suri @ Perkeso campaign, the Social Security Organisation (Socso) is expecting over half a million housewives to register for the Housewives Social Security Scheme (SKSSR) by the end of this year. In order to achieve this goal, Socso will be launching more online advertisements and awareness campaigns from October 1 to December 31.
Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who launched the campaign, emphasized the importance of social justice and welfare for women. She highlighted that women aged from 15 to 64 years old make up 49.33% of Malaysia’s population and contribute significantly to the national gross domestic product (GDP), particularly through their unpaid work in managing family affairs.
Dr. Wan Azizah stated that it is crucial for all housewives to be aware of the SKSSR and its role in protecting them. The newly launched Ayuh Daftar Suri @ Perkeso campaign will utilize various platforms across related ministries to raise awareness about the scheme.
The CEO of Socso, Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed, agreed that housewives face various risks on a daily basis, both within and outside their homes. He highlighted the importance of SKSSR in providing financial security and stability to housewives, regardless of the challenges they may face.
The SKSSR was implemented on December 1, 2022, under the Housewives’ Social Security Act 2022. Its aim is to provide social security protection to housewives against domestic injuries, illnesses, and invalidity while they manage their households. The scheme requires an annual contribution of RM120, which can be made by the housewife herself, her husband, family members, or any other third party.
