PETALING JAYA: A woman has been brought to court for alleged negligence after her two-year-old daughter died when she was left inside a car.
Nur Sari Fardiana Mohd Amran, 38, entered a plea of not guilty at the Sessions Court on Friday (Dec 22).
Based on the charge sheet, the incident took place between 8am and 3.15pm at a house in Ara Damansara and involved negligence towards a two-year-old child on Nov 8.
She was charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001 for neglect, and if convicted, could face a maximum jail sentence of 20 years or a fine of up to RM50,000, or both.

Prosecutor Anis Hakimah Ibrahim recommended setting bail at RM15,000 with one surety and additional conditions including monthly reporting to the police station and no contact with witnesses.
Defense lawyer Datuk Hanif Hassan, however, requested a lower bail, arguing that the trauma experienced by his client, who had lost her child, was substantial and had affected her business due to the incident.
“My client, a Malaysian, poses no flight risk and has cooperated throughout the proceeding,” he added.
The judge set a bail of RM7,000 with one surety, ordered monthly reporting to the police station, and prohibited contact with witnesses. The case is set for mention on January 30 next year.
