IPOH: A tragic accident occurred on KM3 Jalan Changkat Jong-Teluk Intan, approximately 90km away from here, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old motorcyclist. The incident happened at 11.35pm on Thursday (July 13), instantly claiming the life of the young man, according to Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcyclist was on his way back home to Kampung Selabak from Teluk Intan. “Upon reaching the junction, the car collided with the right side of the motorcycle,” said ACP Ahmad Adnan as he shared details about the accident on Friday (July 14).

The car was traveling from Jalan Padang Tembak towards Jalan Kampung Bahagia. A horrifying consequence of the collision was the motorcycle bursting into flames and the rider being thrown onto the road, suffering fatal head and body injuries. Medical personnel at the scene pronounced the victim dead on the spot. The body has been sent to Hospital Teluk Intan’s forensics unit for a post-mortem examination,” he added.

In terms of the car occupants, a 31-year-old woman driver and her 29-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries. After receiving outpatient treatment, they were allowed to return home. “Both vehicles involved have been seized for further investigation,” ACP Ahmad Adnan mentioned. The accident will be dealt with under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act while police work on determining the cause of the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the accident is encouraged to come forward by contacting investigating officer Insp Mohd Hairy Baharuddin at 014-565 4565l, appealed ACP Ahmad Adnan. He also took the opportunity to remind the public to exercise caution, be courteous, and comply with traffic regulations at all times, especially when approaching junctions.
