In Muar, a motorcyclist was killed instantly after being struck by a car on the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound at 3.10am on Monday (Sept 4).
The incident occurred when the victim skidded on the road and another motorcyclist attempted to avoid the victim but also skidded on the right-hand side of the highway.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz stated in a statement that “A car traveling in the same direction tried to avoid the 20-year-old victim, who was lying on the road, but was unsuccessful and hit the victim.”
The driver of the car lost control and skidded on the left-hand side of the highway, according to Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz.
A one-and-a-half-month-old toddler who was in the car sustained serious injuries in the collision and died while receiving treatment at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital Muar, Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz added.
“Five individuals have been admitted to the hospital for medical care,” he said.
The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, stated Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz, who also encouraged witnesses to step forward and assist with the investigation.
