Two individuals riding motorcycles lost their lives in a collision with a car on the Penang Bridge during the early hours of Saturday (Nov 11), as reported by GEORGE TOWN.
The cause of the accident, which occurred on the road leading to the mainland, is suspected to be a speeding car.
In images shared on the internet, the severely damaged wreckage of the car was found resting on the bridge’s shoulder, while a motorcycle was broken into two pieces.
Initial reports suggest that the car’s 17-year-old driver was participating in a race before crashing into the motorcycle. However, witnesses who captured the car speeding across the bridge pointed out that it was travelling alone and at excessive speed.
In the interim, Assistant Commissioner Tan Cheng Shan of Central Seberang Prai OCPD has confirmed that a post-mortem and investigation is presently underway.
