MRSM Ranau in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah warmly received its first batch of students as they arrived with their parents to register for the new academic year. The campus, located around 8km from Ranau town, was bustling with excitement on Monday, March 11.

Principal Ismail Badri expressed his delight in welcoming the Forms One to Four students, noting the smiles on their faces. He emphasized that MRSM Ranau stands out from other campuses due to its scenic location near Mount Kinabalu.

He believes that the combination of the environment, experienced teachers, and top-notch facilities will produce well-rounded and high-achieving students.

The campus, built by PETRONAS at a cost of RM132 million, aims to enhance access to quality education for Sabah students while fostering their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

With a sprawling space of 26,000 square meters, the campus has the capacity to accommodate up to 450 students.

Facilities at MRSM Ranau include an administrative building, a resource center, a dining hall, a multi-purpose hall, a surau, ancillary buildings, student dormitories, as well as residences for staff and teachers. Currently, the institution boasts 27 teachers, 16 support staff, and three management team members.

In a statement released on Tuesday, PETRONAS hailed the opening of MRSM Ranau as a significant step towards providing quality education for the local communities of Ranau, situated at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu, approximately 100km away.

The national oil company views this achievement as a milestone in its efforts to develop human capital. Sabah and Labuan Regional Office general manager Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab expressed her enthusiasm for the inaugural group of students embarking on their educational journey at MRSM Ranau.
