PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will have a total of 20 candidates contesting in the six state elections next month.
Party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman announced that these candidates will be fielded in four different states. He further mentioned that the last 10 candidates were named on Saturday (July 22).
“This is the line-up for our candidates, consisting of young and energetic professionals… with 50% of them being women,” he stated during a media conference held to introduce the candidates.
Muda unveiled six candidates for the Selangor polls, including Aida Nazeera Abd Rahman, who will be contesting the Taman Templer seat, Noor Faralisa Redzuan for Pandan Indah, and Abe Lim for Bandar Utama.
Other candidates announced were T. Kalyana Rajasekaran for Bukit Gasing, Azad Akhbar Khan for Kota Anggerik, and Zayd Shaukat Ali for Subang Jaya.
In Penang, the candidates will be H. Vikneswary for Perai and Lee Kim Noor, a 59-year-old candidate, for Batu Uban. Meanwhile, in Negri Sembilan, Ahmad Qusyairi Abdull Rahman will be representing the party for the Temiang seat, and Muhammad Noriswan Ishak for the Repah seat.
Muda’s candidate announcements mean that they will be fielding 14 candidates in Selangor, three in Penang, two in Negri Sembilan, and one candidate in Terengganu.
The Election Commission has set polling for the state elections in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan on August 12th, with nomination day on July 29th, and early voting on August 8th. – Bernama
